Recent Site Updates

Our yards are coming to life with the beginning of the climbing equipment and forts being built.

Our yards have been carefully designed to provide children with natural play spaces, with sustainably sourced wooden and ropes climbing opportunities, sand pits, a bike track, water pumping for water play and our big point of difference- a half basketball court and football field, which also doubles as multi-purpose spaces for children to have space to run, create their own games, or go back to basics with old classics like potato sack races, parachute games, bowling or Whats the time Mr Wolf!

In the baby and toddler yard, the beginning of the climbing fort has begun. This will be age and stage appropriate, will have a soft fall underneath and allows children to be involved in risky play and build upon their gross motor skills.

Imagine you’re a child again and you are playing hide and seek, pirates, princess’s, ninja’s, running and climbing! Imagine walking into an outdoor environment which supports your imagination to run wild- this is what we are creating at Billy Button Early Learning.

This is the foundations for the climbing fort out in the big yard- think wood, ropes, slides!

The large poles will hold up the sunsafe shade sails to keep the babies and toddlers safe in summer, and the foundations of the swing have been put in.

The yards will include garden beds, for children to participate in our Garden to Kitchen Program.
Children will assist in planting, watering and nurturing seasonal vegetables and herbs, which will then be harvested and sent to the kitchen to be incorporated into the meals they eat.

Involving children in the growing process, provides them a hands-on understanding of where food comes from and offers valuable learning opportunities about healthy eating habits.

We will also be partnering with our neighbouring Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School, in a buddy program for our Billy Button children to experience their amazing on site Olrig Homestead where they host their sustainability program complete with produce gardens.

Our rooms have been specifically designed to bring nature and a sense of home together to create an enjoyable, happy place where children can live, laugh and learn. The rooms have been designed to meet children’s developmental milestones as we watch them grow from 6 weeks to 6 years old.

Our recruitment process explained

At Billy Button Early Learning we take, and have always taken, children’s safety seriously which means we have very stringent safety screening and recruitment processes in place when hiring educators to look after your children.

After discussions with the community, and virtual tour conversations, we understand the need for parents and caregivers to have insight into how we ensure your children are kept safe by the people caring for them in and early education setting.

Screening

We have had an influx of resumes and applications in our inbox. This initial stage involves a phone call to assess if the applicant has an understanding of the role they have applied for.

Zoom Meeting

If the applicant passed the phone screening, we invited them for a zoom interview. The purpose for this was to assess what sort of employment they were after, why they chose early education as a career and if what they said in their resume, aligned with what they said and presented.

In person interview

This was conducted with our Managing Director, Robyn in attendance.

We discussed Child Safe Standards, the expectation of each role, the applicants understanding of programming for children’s learning and the standard of care expected.

Reference Checks

These are required by all applicants before progressing through. We require 2 references who the applicant has directly reported to- eg. previous manager/ director/ ed leader.

WWCC, Police Check and Qualification Check

Ensuring up to date police checks are conducted, and qualification’s are checked to ensure legitimacy

Successful Candidates

Once all processes have been followed and checks completed, management will come together to ensure applicants are placed into the rooms and ages that will suit them best.

Job Offer is sent and teams will form

Once the core team has formed, they will come together for an intense induction to go over policies and procedures and training with Kerrie O’Neill, an Early Years Consultant that works with Billy Button and is passionate about Child Safety and Program Planning. This induction period will allow our new educators to learn the Billy Button way and bond as a unit so when the service opens, our educators focus will be on settling and orientating your children.

Don’t forget, if you enrol by 30th September, you will receive 2 weeks FREE care!
